Why should I use an automatic dishwashing detergent such as FINISH in my dishwasher?
Your detergent needs to complement the cleansing action of your dishwasher. Automatic dishwashing detergent is specially formulated to disperse food residue and greasy soiling, hold it in suspension and remove it in the final rinse. It does all this producing little or no suds.

How should I store my dishwashing detergent?
If you are using powders, you will want to try to store the product in a reasonably dry place. Most powder packaging is moisture resistant, but you should be careful to close the spout after each use to help keep the product dry (and to avoid spills!). Like all cleaning products, store your detergent out of the reach of children.

Do I need to rinse my dishes before loading them into the dishwasher?

My FINISH powder is not dissolving. What do I do?
Granular products such as FINISH Powder tend to pick up moisture over time and can become lumpy or caked. To prevent this, the product is sold in moisture resistant packaging. Always close the pour spout after each use, do not measure amount to be used near heat and store the product in a cool, dry place. As always, keep out of the reach of children.

My FINISH detergent is not dispensing from the detergent cup.
There are various reasons why this may happen:
  • The dispenser was wet when the detergent was added; dry the dispenser before adding the detergent.
  • The detergent was left in the dispenser for a long time; it should only be added when you are ready to start the dishwasher.
  • The dispenser was overfilled. After adding detergent, gently tap the dispenser on the side (if possible) to level out the product.
  • The dispenser is blocked - make sure there are no utensils preventing the it from opening.
  • The dishwasher may need a maintenance service call. Your detergent may be old - use a fresh product.

There are still tea and coffee stains in my cups after using FINISH detergent.
There are a number of factors that could lead to such poor results. These include water temperature and hardness, water pressure and circulation, how your dishes are loaded, lack of rinse agent and occasional temporary changes in local water conditions. First, check to see if the conditions are satisfactory. If tea/coffee stains persist, soak cups in a weak dilute bleach solution. Rinse thoroughly.

What are the “salt and pepper” or little particles left on my dishes?
Your detergent may not be dissolving properly. This could either be the detergent dispenser that isn't opening at the right time or the detergent may be old. Sometimes a dishwasher needs to be cleaned of accumulated food soil that may redeposit on your dishes during the wash and rinse cycles. Refer to your dishwasher manufacturer manual.
