Dishwasher Maintenance

Looking after your dishwasher

Dishwashers need very little maintenance in order to give you squeaky clean results with every cycle. However, there are few things to look for to keep them at their peak performance.

Rinse Aid

Rinse Agent

If using separate products, you should check the level of rinse agent in the dispenser every month. If you start to see spotting and filming on your glasses, you may need to fill the dishwasher up with Finish Rinse Agent.

Spray Arms

Spray Arms

You may need to check that the water spray arm nozzles are free from blockages. If they are blocked, pull the lower arm upwards and lift off and unscrew the upper arm (refer to the manufacturer manual for full instructions). Rinse both of these under running water before replacing in the machine. After replacing, make sure the lower arm has locked into place and the upper one is screwed on firmly.

Other Tips:

  • Use a Finish dishwasher detergent which is specifically created for an automatic dishwasher to provide the ultimate cleaning results.
  • Arrange all sharp items so they are not likely to damage the door seal.
  • Avoid spilling dishwashing detergent directly onto your cutlery as this can cause corrosion.
  • Be sure to load sharp knives with the handles up.
  • Never wash items such as electronic air cleaner filters, furnace filters or paintbrushes in the dishwasher. This may result in damage, discoloration or staining of the dishwasher.
